I am leaving blogger for something better. Bye. Thanks for hanging in there. My new home is Tumblr, it just looks cooler.

I only buy cotton t-shirts made in America. Thanks Dov.
I just applied to American Apparel. I have no idea if they are actually hiring, but it would be nice to finally have a job again. I need more funds to fuel my sick deep-v collection!

I can't breath, please pass the syrup.
Day 9 of rain. Day 5 of being deathly ill. All I've done this week is sleep. My sinuses are a real wreck and I'm like a mucus machine (sorry, gross!).
$200 later, I finally got my car inspected, my registration renewed, and my tickets paid off.
Bleck, if there's one thing I hate even more than being sick, it's taxes!
Also, I miss the sunshine.
I just ate a pancake meal from Whataburger. Some of the best pancakes ever. Anyways, I'm having mixed feelings and a twinge of guilt now after eating that syrup laden, goliath of a breakfast.

I love polar bears, but no, I will not change my major for them.
I can not understand why I am a senior in college and am required to take a science class. I am 21 years old and an Advertising major. What is the point? By this point, I think it's pretty obvious that there's no chance of me becoming the next Marie Curie. Please just let me take beverage tasting.

"airing dirty laundry" or "a sock full of quarters" or "ankle deep"
It's raining here. Rain is one of those topics that people seem to have a real passion for. But, for how much people talk about it, they never really say anything new. So, anyways, here I am, saying the same old, same old about rain. It makes me depressed, yet happy. It ruins my hair. It makes the grass grow, which means I'm going to have to pay the neighbor boy to mow the lawn sooner than I had hoped. The sky is a really lovely shade of grey today. I'm not wearing glasses right now either, so, out of my peripheral, the tree tops look like delightful, lush, inky blobs. Ha, this post is so trite, and I'm using commas like a boss bitch, or a second grader.
Sorry that this post is ambling so, and that I sound so pompous. I'm just feeling extra introverted right now. I haven't done anything today except watch the Rachel Zoe show, as if that's supposed to explain something.
Ok 3 things (bullets always help me reign in a direction for this dumb stuff) :
- today I woke up just extremely grateful for everything
- I thought about eternity this morning and had a panic attack
- I really would like some dusty rose pillow cases to break up the taupe-ness of my room
This is exactly why I never write long posts. I would also like to apologize for using the following words: trite, pompous, boss bitch.

caps, gowns, and countdowns
3rd week of classes and I still haven't skipped. Finishing college off right.
I picked up my application for graduation today. 3 months, 10 days until I'm done.
Frightening.

Where are all the real men?
Ok, I am going to continue to give more in-depth descriptions of my recently posted "love" list.
I already touched on my Fleet Foxes crush ... so now I think I'll cover "men with beards," or perhaps I'll just cover men in general. Ooooo, what a rare treat.
I went on a hike with one of my friends this morning and we discussed what we like, or better yet, what we'd like to find, in the men-folk arena.
I'm not looking for prince charming, I've never been a huge fan of chivalry. I would just like to meet one normal guy that will go on a hike with me on a sunny afternoon. If he likes Jesus and has a beard, well, that would just be gravy.
I don't care if he dresses well or buys me stuff. I really just want to go on a hike.
All play and no work makes Rikki a lazy girl
My past 2 weeks of unemployment have been enjoyable, but now it's time for me to get back into the game.
Walk with me down Ruby beach and through the valley floor
To me, perhaps, the best feeling in the world is when you're lying alone, in complete silence, in a soft pool of morning light, and you put on an album for the first time, and it sweeps you away. It's so beautiful that you cry.
Fleet Foxes.

Pause to reflect
I'm sorry my blogging is so all over the place. I'm always changing my mind about the "me" that I want to be reflected here. I don't mean to say that I've never not been myself, but I really can't figure out the voice this blog should be in.
Most of the time I am just complaining. Sometimes I wish that this was really a diary... oh the stories I long to share with you all.
I don't know what I sought to gain from this post. I can't promise that I'll find my voice anytime soon. I think that's why I was never interested in a career as a full-blown writer, and why I love advertising...I get to wear so many hats.

Fail Boat
I'm at work. My usual place of blogging. Anyways, I actually have an assignment but I'm too distracted to work on it.
A) I have a ton of packing to do
B) My 3 favorite bands are all playing in my vicinity this fall, and are all playing multiple dates
C) Facebook
D) Procrastination with a twinge of defiance and a slight complex against authority
No rest for the weary
I have returned.
I just read like my last 10 posts, and lord, I sound so gay.
It's like 4 in the morning and I have to be up for work in 3 1/2 hours.
I'm moving into a new house though in like 3 days and I only started packing up my shit like 2 hours ago. I am so dumb sometimes.
I also accidently stole a table from Ikea today. You know how everything at Ikea comes in those flat boxes? Well we grabbed what we thought was just one dining room table, we get the thing home and we realized that we had actually grabbed two. One had just gotten taped to the other.
Needless to say we're keeping the stolen goods (we also forgot to pay for a doormat). I feel guilty, but I don't even know how to go about returning them. Ikea was like Disney World on Memorial Day weekend or Walmart on tax free weekend.
I said "like" a lot in this post, and I still think I sound pretty gay. Blah.
*In reference to a string of previous posts: this summer I am continuing to find friendships in unexpected places. Exhilarating.

Hold the pickles, hold the lettuce, special orders don't upset us...
My hair is so greasy today, I'm sorry, that's kind of gross to share. But I think the condition of one's hair has a great effect on their mood for the day.
I feel like a zombie.
I wish I could just be like a park ranger or organic gardener sometimes.
Blah.
Also, I have a strange desire for a Whopper right now, what the hell?

EPIC SUMMER '09
Hmm... some people can really surprise you. Amen to a summer full of the baddest bad asses I've ever met.!
no house. no home. one sick, stressed girl.
I am unbelievably stressed. We have to move out of our apartments in less than a month, and we still have yet to find a house. Then once we find the house we have to buy all the junk to go in it. And, we have to move all of our accumulated clutter. Lord, help me, my acid reflux is insane right now.

... block.
I never thought I would grow up to become a writer. I've always been told that I write well, but I could've never fathomed pursuing a career in it.
Today, at work, I am supposed to be writing the copy for a website. The website is about a local historical home and farm. The goal of the copy is to sell the property as a venue for, primarily, corporate functions and weddings.
This may seem a mundane task to some, but, for me, it's the reason I get up in the morning and drive the 45 miles to Dallas. I want to be a copywriter, I want to turn the mundane into magic.
Epic greatness awaits.

I drive a Jeep Wrangler. It gets 11 mi/gallon on the highway. I commute 90 miles roundtrip every day. So, this month I have spent $300.00 on gas. Lord.

spoiled silly... sorry
I am listening to M. Ward right now. I can't say I'm a devout follower or anything like that. But, I really do enjoy Transistor Radio. My old room mate gave it to me two Christmases ago (with a little bit of hinting on my part).
I had an epiphany on drive home from work yesterday, and I realized that I am so very blessed to be able to bitch about the triviality of my life. Goss, there are starving children with flies all over their faces somewhere and I'm complaining that the line in Subway's too long.
So, I got home and I made it a point to quit feeling sorry for myself. Really, I have no reason to feel that way anyways. God, I am so fantastically blessed.
No more bitching. No more moaning. This blog is going to be all smiles and kittens from now own. Well at least for today.

In regards to my last post
The glee I was feeling on Friday afternoon as yet to subside.
Real life is just so supremely unpredictable. I can say confidently, that my current situation is not one that I could have ever anticipated in anyway.
My hearts in my throat, and there's a burning in my stomach. It's exciting and new, but, yet, it still brings with it the comforting sensation of possible longevity.
As self-centered and divalicious as it may sound, sometimes it just feels so damn fine to be adored.
I'm happy.

3rd Times the Charm
In the last 2 weeks my life has been full of exciting encounters. Let's hope things keep up like this.
I had one such encounter just minutes ago. It made my day. I'm giddy like a school girl :D
24 hour party people
The spirit of this blog has begun to shift slightly.
Sorry if it's not as fun.
I'm not sure it was ever that fun.
I've just started to get kind of whiney.
Blah.
Don't party on the weekdays!

dragons and gridlock
This morning it took 2 hours for me to get to work. Ugh. There's something about rain that apparently makes people completely forget how to drive. People are going 25 in a 60. And, for every car you find abandoned in the margin, you can tack an additional 20 minutes on to your travel time.
For a some reason unbeknownst to me, I feel quite agitated right now. No one should ever feel this annoyed while listening to Peter, Paul and Mary side not: Girl in the War by Josh Ritter is either about Peter and Paul from the Bible, or it's about Peter and Paul of Peter, Paul and Mary ... Listen, opinionate, comment?
two eyes
I think I am officially a blogger.
Anyways, today, for the first time, I experieced the true euphoria of using two monitors simultaneously. Oh my goss, I never want to go back.
I'm on facebook and iTunes on one monitor, and Photoshop, InDesign, and my blog on the other.
So good.

out damn spot!
In my office, there is this numbing and constant hum of white noise. It puts me into a trance, which is hard to escape, ever since I slipped into an unfortunate pattern of sleep deprivation.
Today, I would just like to share that I have finally grown out of my acne. 20 years old and my skin looks like it did, well, 20 years ago. Amazing! Fantastic! Splendiferous!
Nothing's Finer Than an Ice Cold Shiner!
Things I'm into right now:
90's night - dirty, hipsters, Dentron style
Andrew Bird - The Mysterious Production of Eggs

I voted.
For the last 3 days I have been struggling, trying to keep myself from blogging about religion and politics.
Ah I'm surrounded!
I can't escape the topic!
Nevertheless I will continue to stave off the little bastard!
Maybe, in like 15 years, someone will stumble upon this little blog and find it to be an ingenious political allegory of biblical proportions.
everything you own in a box to the left
I enjoy being around people that have strong opinions. Or, let's face it, just have an opinion period. More often than not, the people I tend to gravitate towards have opinions and beliefs that are totally opposing of mine, and that's fine. Life's too short to partake solely in Wonder Bread.

Today I finally got someone to go to the lake with me. Michael and I blissfully played with a bunch of Mexican children for two hours. Lovely.
a note on proper grammar, or, in my case, a lack there of
This blog was not started because I wanted to showcase my excellent grammar skills. To be honest I couldn't care less about proper sentence structure. Great writers don't get caught up on a comma. I write how I think. Proper grammar, for the most part, is like the speed limit. It's a suggestion as to what you should be doing, and as long as you stay around it, you're not going to get in too much trouble. So heed this, I do not proof read these posts. I mean, sometimes later on, when I see a grossly obvious mistake I'll go back and edit it. But, for the most part, this process is fairly organic.
I don't want to write a novel. I want to write a sentence. A sentence that in one second can make you fall in love. I will never give up on thinking that there are only a few professions as noble as advertising.
I don't want to write a novel. I want to write a sentence. A sentence that in one second can make you fall in love. I will never give up on thinking that there are only a few professions as noble as advertising.
I just want to send this cosmic question out into the void.
Last night, for the first time since I was like 9, I went to bed at 11. The only bad part about waking up at 8:30 perfectly refreshed on a Sunday moring is that I am in college, and no one n college wakes up before noon.
As I mentiond in my previous post, I am dealing with a lot of nerves right now. I sitting at this point that I've got all this nervous energy and I'm waiting for it to either crash into disappointment or sky-rocket into excitement. Alas, as per the norm, only time will tell.
So, get used to me blogging a whole lot in the near future. It distracts me because I get to talk about how nervous I am to someone that will never get tired of listening.
This experience I'm going through is much like the one I was going through while looking for an internship. I feel like I have it in the bag, but I can't escape that sinking feeling that I could totally be out in left field by thinking that way.
I am also so full of nerves I've dropped the pesky habit of eating almost entirely.

we came for salvation.. wait.. that's somebody else
I saw Langhorne Slim last night. I've blogged about him before. No one reads this though, so I don't know why I bothered to say that.
Back to Langhorne, I got into him a couple years ago shortly after I began my love affair with the Avett Brothers. He's awesome, bluesy (?), folky, blue-grassy. God. Fantastic. I actually got to meet him. Which in hindsight should have been in the opening line of this post. Yeah, I got a poster signed too. Whoo Hooo! Hot Damn!
Here are some sick free songs courtesy of DayTrotter:

this is just an article about him, that I am about to read, but haven't yet, so I can't vouch for it but what evs:

Today, at my super high-speed ad internship, I have been getting paid $6.55 an hour to:
take a nap
read a book

walk around aimlessly
blog
I should be happy. But, right now, I'd rather be doing almost anything else. I'd rather plow a corn field than sit here sleep deprived and bored to tears.
PS:: Although, this statement is far from original, I'm going to go ahead and say that excessive access to technology has robbed us of a little humanity. Ugh... pardon me...

concerning the landscape of my upper lip
Pimples that pop up between your upper lip and your nose are the grossest and most persistent of all acne. Grr. I am too old for this BS.
If you're six foot tall and east coast bred...
Some times I feel like I lead two lives. I find in the circles I run in I am presented with many opportunities to compromise my morals. It's hard, but I imagine that everyone has these experiences from time to time.
Anyways, today I fell in love with Andrew Bird. I felt like it was most excellent timing. My morning commute will be amazing, or at least more bearable.

hipster mangum scene fabulously decadent self-indulgant down load
No one reads this. But, incase someone ever does, I want to apologize for talking about Jeff Mangum so much. I sound like such a fake-o hipster. Eh, I probably am, but regardless of all that, Live at Jittery Joe's is a Mangum experience that must be had.
Also, please excuse my blatant disregard for proper comma placement. I just f'in love commas!
Vocally and instumentally Jittery Joe's ain't that fabulous, it's Mangum's banter that makes it so good. For many of the songs too, there is a baby crying in background, and for some reason, that just seems ever so fitting.
You can't buy this. So, feel free find the torrent. It's worth 10-15 viruses.

motivation sensation
I have truely spectacular bed head right now, but as usual that is completely off topic.
I have always been a person with a goal. I've always wanted to do something. The goal changes but the spirit behind it stays the same.
I love people that want to accomplish something, anything. If you want to open up a hot dog cart or you want to be an acrobat, it's cool. I just like being around people that are motivated.
Pick something you want to do, and start working for it. Even if you change your mind in a week you'll be better off then if you had just floundered that week away.
Make! Say! Think! Do! (sorry, blatant rip-off)

I've been working on the rail road...
It's the first friday in over 4 months that I haven't had off. This has also been the first week in over 3 years that I've had to wake up before 9 on a daily basis. Hmm I guess my 3 year college vacation has finally come to an end. It's ok, new job means new clothes! Urban Outfitters mega-sale is mine in 3 1/2 hours! Woo Hoo!

This is a moment where I wish I had a Mac so I could better covey what the name of this post means.
Much fun was had with old friends, old flings, new friends, and a bunch of strangers I'll never remember. It was one of those nights that makes you appreciate being young and living in a dirty hippie town.
Dentron. We love you.

3rd post in 2 days! If you have a shred of a soul listen to In the Aeroplane Over the Sea.
If you hate it, get a clue, and listen to it until you love it.
MANGUM MANIA!
Start with track 7 (Communist Daughter), it's only 1:57 long.
Then listen to it from the top. I'm sure you can find a torrent if you're a cheapo, but I strongly encourage you to pay fo' it legits style. Please. Thanks.
btw...
I took the Myer-Briggs test today and my results may enlighten you a little on my posting style:
ENFJ - "Persuader". Outstanding leader of groups. Can be aggressive at helping others to be the best that they can be. 2.5% of total population.

Today is Monday. I never do anything of merit on Mondays. Today is also like day 17,000 of rain. I left the window cracked in my car like 3 days ago and just went through the draining process, of well, draining it today. Blah.
It's dead week. I have nothing to do. The beauty and curse of being an Ad major.
I began attempt #37 of making my website today. Hopefully I will have it up and running within a fortnight. It will be divalicious and look much like a 14 year old, black girl's myspace page.
Now mostly for my enjoyment, but for your's too (whoever actually reads this)....

God is a place you will wait for the rest of your life.
I was going to write about something, but I forgot about what.
Today I...
woke up at 11:30 feeling oh so nasty
ate a cupcake that had far too much frosting on it
watched 4 episodes of the office on hulu
made a BLT
talked to my room mate about ... idkw... for an hour
laundry
cleaned shower
took shower
Mangum binge
This evening I will...
fall asleep in church
eat Fuzzy's tacos
talk about nothing with Michael for 2-3 hours

In the Aeroplane Over the Sea is the greatest album ever. Mangum is not human.

bare feet, tank top, and shorts is all we need
I have returned! For the last couple of weeks I have been stressed to my wit's end about getting my internship, but alas I finally got it. Now, I can continue living my life or to continue blogging about it.
The weather here the last couple of days as been hot. Not too hot, but it's a some what unpleasant reminder that the gruesome days of Texas summer are fast approaching.
The air sickly sweet like sweaty skin, dirt and grass. My window is open and it is violently windy outside. My lamp has fallen over 3 times, and I sadly just attempted to spell 'fallen' as 'follen'.
With all that said I will leave you with a list of the things I am looking most forward to this summer:
1. driving in my Jeep with the top down (although much more enjoyable in spring)
2. American Apparel Deep Vs. Call me scene. I am. I love them. I have 7, and I hope to get more. They are all I wear from May to September.
3. Bicycle rides. Bike riding for me is purely recreational and seasonal. I am terrible at it, but it get's me out of my cracker box apartment.
4. Moving out of my craptastic apartment, and away from my scary country, lesbian room mate. I have no dislike towards lesbians or country folk as a whole, but in this case the two combined make for a very unsettling combo.
5. Moving into my first house with my best friend.
6. My first job. My first internship. So excited.
7. Seeing: Animal Collective. Bonnie 'Prince' Billy. Peaches. and God willing, THE AVETT BROTHERS.
8. Going home to see my dog, and I guess my family.
YAY! SUMMERS ONLY 3 WEEKS AWAY!

: )
I knew my blog-o-mania would eventually subside. I just wanted to say that I'm the happiest I have been in a very, very, very, very long time today. Please enjoy this picture of a cute dog.

off in off ten
When I was in 9th grade, my drama teacher, Ms. Wilburn, told the class that the "t" in often is silent. That was the first time in my life I had ever heard that, but she was a frightening old woman, and I couldn't help but to take what she said to heart. (triple compound sentence?)
Now I cringe when I hear people hit that hard "t". According to the dictionary either pronunciation is correct, but I really wish more people would say "offin". It is such a lovely soft word.

Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk
For the last 3 weeks or so, I have had a wicked case of insomnia. I'm not stressed or ill. I just can't stop thinking.
Tonight's bout though, is more than likely due to the enormous cup of coffee that I got at 10 pm (poor choice, but I got it fo' free!). Anyways, I am now suffering the consequences in heavily partaking in a 7-ll latte. Now, I'm going to do a little recap of the hours in the wake of the coffee.
10-11 : started up this blog madness / facebooked
11-2:30: did french homework
2:30ish: panicked over missing thumb-drive and searched the club house
2:45-3:30: packed up winter clothes and reorganized my dresser
3:30-4: watched George Lopez
4ish- 5:30: read Palm Sunday by Vonnegut
5:30ish to present: doing this
7-11 is the devil's tool. French is going to suck extra hard tomorrow.

There was country music playing, but he don’t like it at all
Obviously, I'm real big into sharing links. I think that will be the premise of this blog. I'm just going to share things that I think are cool. I think I'm cool, maybe that's uncool to say, but I don't really care.
Anyways, I got this song fo' free. *Note: Most awesome music you can find free and legit.* As I've already mentioned, and will many more times, I love folk music. It's 90% of what I listen to, and this is real good folk.

Go Gorilla.
All I wanted was a good song and a fair friend.
Listen to: Collette, by Langhorne Slim.
I'm living and dying for this song right now. You can download a sick live version of it fo' free from Daytrotter. In case you didn't know, Daytrotter is an online music zine that posts a lot of cool interviews with Indie artists. The best part about it, is that most of the interviews include like 4-6 live, or demo versions, of songs by the artist.
So, go to this link ::::::::

and download it. No excuses, it's free!

I choose you!

I am going d'krazious for these weird mutant animal babies! They're like Pokemon for grown-ups, or just for losers that wish they could still get away with displaying their Pokemon.
Anyways, I've always loved weird Japanese stuff. When I was 6, I used to blow my whole $6.00 allowance at the Sanrio store. So, good.
I want to catch em' all and have a creepy little mutant baby army for my desk!
You go, Glenn Coco.
Ok this is my second attempt at starting a blog. The first time was a private failure. Let's hope I can reign in my thoughts a little better this time.
During my first attempt, I wrote primarily about music, which was a terrible idea. I really only listen to folk music, which made a pretty dry and self-righteous blog ( but I guess blogging is pretty self-righteous by nature). Anyways, I'm more than likely still going to talk about music, but I'm going to talk about other stuff too. Oh, and I will start most sentences with conjunctions, and I will use far too many commas, and most of them incorrectly.
